As a full – semi-autonomous – VanDrie Group subsidiary, T. Boer & zn conforms completely to the basic principles of corporate citizenship. Respect for people and for animals is an important part of this. Over the more than 100 years that it has been in business, T. Boer & zn has developed from a comprehensive raw materials chain to a specialist in veal with a completely controlled and tested production process. This unique process satisfies the highest International Food Standard (IFS) requirements. The welfare of the animals intended for slaughter during their transport to the slaughterhouse and the preservation time and circumstances are an essential part of the controlled and tested process.
As well as the application of this basic principle, the optimal deployment of capacity, in combination with the greatest possible attention for the well-being and health of its employees, is equally a major area for attention.
T. Boer & zn has been consistently rewarded for its conduct and its honest attitude toward its staff. Measurement indicators for this success include the low absenteeism rate due to illness, the extremely small departure rate due to unfitness for work and the relatively long period that the employees have been working here. Although the average age of its employees is below 35 years, it is not exceptional at T Boer & zn to find people who have been working here for more than 25 years.
The specialisation at T Boer & zn focuses on principals of animal welfare combined with a humanised work setting. Innovation projects that bring this about have recently been completed. A successful study was made in co-operation with TNO-Voeding in Zeist and the Animal Sciences Group in Lelystad on how best to optimise the quality of the meat. Besides maximum attention for people and animals T. Boer & zn is always firmly focused on its product and as well as the people who purchase it. The unavoidable burden on the environment involved in its conduct of business has been reduced to an acceptable legal minimum. Further-reaching investments to perfect this have since been completed.
Thanks to its long tradition, T. Boer & zn as a representative of a healthy industry, has built up a well-known name which it maintains with conviction. As well as the slogan, ‘CONTROLLED QUALITY VEAL’, the slogans ‘CONTROLLED QUALITY PROCESS’ and ‘CONTROLLED HUMAN RESOURCE’ could also be applied to T. Boer & zn.
